New Year - New You?
There is a common perception that as we start a new year there will be a whole raft of new opportunities, new energy and new focuses. This is true. However it's also true that to make it work, we need a new perspective on life.
Now that we are into the new year of 2010, we need to ask the question: What do I need to bring to this new year?
What skills can I develop? What part of life can I mend or separate from? What focuses do I need to ensure this year is peaceful, successful or happy?
It's so easy to fall back into old habits, alongside our new hope - only to be disappointed that things aren't turning out as we hoped.
So, here's a few tips to build a resourceful and resilient self for 2010:
- Be reasonable! Sounds easy, but most of our new years resolutions aren't right for us. We think we should do something, give something up, be a better person... but we really don't have the inner focus (or need) to do so. Make it something small to start out and make it something you really, really want!!
- Put it in place by spending 10 minutes a day contemplating it - what does it look like? How will you know when you get it? What's the pathway to it? We often mistake new years resolutions (or any resolutions, for that matter) for something that 'will just happen'. Then we put it aside without ever really going into it, and feel upset when it doesn't come about. So focus! Even if you just start out with a few moments a day... it will build it's own force and begin to turn the universe for you.
- Remember that all change comes with a period of upheaval, confusion or frustration. Nothing ever goes to plan and often we don't expect to feel any change - just the good things coming to us. But if we need change, we have to release the negative parts of ourselves that are hanging onto the old habit. And change does cleanse the system very effectively. Let it be. Let yourself know that it's just old part of your going now and that you should not let go of your dream, because it is right there under the surface where it can't be seen... until there is enough room cleared for it to become a part of your conscious life.
As always, you can call on Spirit or your Angels for help and guidance. Take a moment now to thank them for their help through your new resolutions.
